The Mustangs fought long and hard before losing the 2nd round playoff game to an outstanding San Andreas league champion Colton team 39-22. We played an outstanding 2nd half, maybe as good a 2nd half as I’ve had any team play here Rancho Verde. We moved the ball on the ground consistantle but were unble to break the big plays that have been our hallmark in 2007. We were hurt by some key turnovers that dampened our momentum.
Our defense played an outstanding 2nd half holding the very potent Colton offense to I am very proud of the way our young men played for us all season. It is always tough to have the season end short of accomplishing all the team goals, however, we accomplished much to be proud of this season. Our offense averaged 40 points per game, which led the leagge as we did with total points scored. We have many outstanding seniors who played their final game for the Mustangs, and we appreciate all they have done for us. Several of them will continue their careers as college players, and we will keep you informed on the website when they commit to a school or when they sign. We also have many outstanding young players who made great contributions this season, and of course, they will be returning for great things next season. Our JV team was 6-2-2, and lost only 1 District game, and our Freshman A team was undefeated,so we will be looking forward to having those guys with us beginning this Spring. Our crowds at our games, home and away, were outstanding and very supportive the entire game. We very much appreciate the fans who have followed the team all season, and the enthusiasm and support they generated during our games. I hope many of you will join us at the FB Banquet, where we honor all our teams—9th and above. The date for the banquet will be in January, and will be announced asap, along with the site. Hope to see you all with us again next year, and please continue to check the website for updates regarding our college recruits, etc.
